Love for Pulse, Love for Orlando by RefiBones

I had to change up my post tonight to honor the victims of the horrible terror attack that took place in Orlando just over twenty-six hours ago at the Pulse nightclub, and I found this beautiful art called Love for Pulse, Love for Orlando by American deviantartist RefiBones.

Even though I’m more than fifteen hundred miles away, as part of the LGBTQ+ community, I felt this tragedy deeply.  Many others have spoken more eloquently than I can be right now, including Lin-Manuel Miranda’s beautiful sonnet at the Tony awards tonight, which I’ll leave you with.

We chase the melodies that seem to find us until they’re finished songs and start to play when senseless acts of tragedy remind us that nothing here is promised, not one day. This show is proof that history remembers. We live through times when hate and fear seem stronger. We rise and fall, and light from dying embers, remembrances that hope and love last longer and love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love cannot be killed or swept aside. As sacred as a symphony Eliza tells her story. Now fill the world with music, love and pride. And thank you so much for this.

— Lin-Manuel Miranda, 2016 Tony Awards, 6/12/16

You can see the powerful video here.  Goodnight, be safe, love one another, and stay creative even in the face of unspeakable acts.
