AtoZ 2018 – F is for Fiery Planet by Deygira-Blood

I hope you’re still fired up, because up next in the April AtoZ Challenge 2018, here is a wonderfully detailed dragon flying before a Fiery Planet by Russian deviantartist Deygira-Blood.

I love the wing design — it’s often how I imagine the wings on the drakes in my book, connected down the whole body and reminiscent of a Brass dragon as drawn by Todd Lockwood — and the light effects making them translucent are really well done.

This artist has used this light-through-the-wings effect before in beautiful pieces like My Sun and Golden Dragon, but she has a varied selection of dragons and other animals (and sometimes a mix, like in On the Wings of Friendship) in her lovely gallery, so check her art out!

I found it interesting to scroll through the comments on her work and suddenly find myself unable to understand the Cyrillic she and her fans wrote to each other, but Google offered to translate it for me, which was nice, and sparked an idea.

I realized that I feature artists from around the world, and I have fans around the world as well, so I should find a way to translate my site, to make it more accessible, don’t you think?  So I’ve added a Google Translate widget on my sidebar (or beneath the post if you’re reading on mobile), so check that out if you’re multi-lingual, and let me know if it works like it’s supposed to!

I’m keeping it simple this year with my theme of “Odds and Ends Dragons” — amazing artwork by artists I’ve come across in past searches, but wasn’t able to find a spot for at the time.  Read more at my Theme Post.

All of these AtoZ posts should appear around 9:05 AM CT (-5 GMT) each day Monday through Saturday.  For even more dragons, check out my 2016 and 2017 posts!

Thanks for reading, take care, and stay creative!

    • Yes, I would kill to be bilingual, and I always said if I had a (human) kid I’d make sure they were. My little bit of French and Japanese from school never really took. 😦 Thanks for stopping!
