AtoZ 2018 – U is for Unchained Magic by Jim Nelson

Unchained Magic. by Jim Nelsonjpg

But the tropical heat couldn’t last, so we’re floating on to the next in the April AtoZ Challenge 2018.  This is called Unchained Magic by American professional artist Jim Nelson, an image from the game Hearthstone.

He captions this:

Here’s one more painting from my work on Hearthstone: Knights of the Frozen Throne. This one was tricky and it went through a bit more development than usual so perhaps I’ll post some process images later. Meanwhile, this is the end result: an undead dragon (known as a frost wyrm in the game)!

Jim is a prolific artist, but interestingly, he doesn’t have any of his work on Deviant Art!  Instead, you can find his work at his website The Art of Jim Nelson, including lots of dragons and more Hearthstone artwork like his awesome Crystal Lion and his terrifying Grotesque Dragonhawk.

Follow Jim at his website, or check him out on Facebook, Twitter, and his Tumblr The Robot Spot: Robot designs by Jim Nelson for more wonderful art.

U

I’m keeping it simple this year with my theme of “Odds and Ends Dragons” — amazing artwork by artists I’ve come across in past searches, but wasn’t able to find a spot for at the time.  Read more at my Theme Post.

All of these AtoZ posts should appear around 9:05 AM CT (-5 GMT) each day Monday through Saturday.  For even more dragons, check out my 2016 and 2017 posts!

Thanks for reading, take care, and stay creative!

    • Ha! I thought the same thing. Not that we’ll be getting any more GoT any time soon! Which is a shame, I have a bunch of awesome GoT artworks to share, just hanging out in limbo for now… O.o;
